See, this is why you do good feedback. It's not just knowing what went wrong, but knowing how it could be better. One of Joss Whedon's weaknesses was avoiding plotpoints he considered inconvenient. For instance, the whole reason vampires turn to dust (clothes and all) is because it would be inconvenient for the characters to be hauling vamp corpses around half the time. Wouldn't be a particularly exciting hour of television. (That decision worked in his favor, though.)

Though to be fair, I think Whedon and company were pretty burned out by season 7. Plus, he was working on Firefly and Angel that same year.
