Job offer.

Well, I've had my first on-the-spot job offer. I hesitated and told them I'll tell them for sure tomorrow.

The good thing is that the pay is as good as it's possible for me to get at this early stage. And the company at first glance looked a good place to be.

The bad thing is that the hours are long -- also the place is almost an hour's distance from home. Plus an hour to return, that's 2 hours spent a day just in journeying.

I'm most likely gonna say yes. But if so, am gonna need to buy me lots of books to read during the trips to and fro, so that it won't be a total waste.

So did you take the job?

Is that you, R? I don't remember knowing anyone else in Canada.

Anyway, I ended up deciding to take a position that was offered me by another company. The pay's almost as good, and it's half the distance from home; the hours also seem better, in theory atleast -- I felt the slightly greater pay that the others were offering me really wasn't worth the life-devouring timewaste that I'd have to suffer every single day of work.

I begin work on the 5th of June.

Yes, it's me. Wish you the best in your new job! Glad to hear you had several offers to choose from. Just some words of advice...don't neglect the managing skills part of your career development. An MBA would be helpful. Sooner or later you'll need it.
